Assessment by TRDP:
In order to physically verify the damages and collect the data TRDP is conducting an assessment in all the UCs of district Tharparkar and Umerkot. Simultaneously TRDP is registering IDPs at various locations in Tharparkar and Umerkot. The assessment in the villages of Tharparkar is initiated whereas in Umerkot it is delayed due to the great number of IDPS and because 14 UCs of the district are still inaccessible. The assessment is being carried out through TRDPs 13 field unit offices from TRDPs own resources.

So far, 437 villages of 38 UCs have been covered; the data shows that in these villages 122,259 individuals have been affected. The assessment in Tharparkar shows the magnitude of damages from monsoon rains as follows:

Households Damages::
The assessment covered 82,242 households from 437 villages. The collected data reveals that 23,079 HHs have been partially affected where 6,451 HHs have been fully affected.
Livestock Damages:
Rain fed agriculture and livestock are the main source of livelihood in Tharparkar. Unfortunately the standing crops have been destroyed whereas livestock is severely affected and one can see the dead animal carcasses all around Tharparkar.

The data from 437 villages shows that 534 cows, 179 buffalos are dead against 35,546 small animal’s: 27,083 goats and 8,463 sheep. There are 1,209 donkeys are reported dead which is huge setback since donkeys are extremely useful animals in desert area for fetching water, ploughing the lands  and moving heavy objects from one place to another place.
Diseases and Affected population:

The collected data determines that fever, diarrhea and skin diseases are the most common diseases that people are suffering from as a result of the floods. Without food and shelter, many people in Tharparkar face nutritional efficiency which is made worse by diarrhea and skin diseases caused by contaminated water.

Death
The data shows that 23 deaths have so far been reported in these torrential rains. The reasons for these deaths include drowning, electric shocks, road accidents and roofs collapsing.
